Vibe check 2025: Leave these icks behind for the new year
New year, new vibes
The new year is right around the corner, and there’s no time like the present to review everything that 2024 brought us. Although, keeping it a buck, there are some things we don’t want to take with us into 2025. If you think of January as your opportunity for a fresh start, kick off the year by identifying what gives you the ick. Leave these things in your rearview:
Faking it.
In or out of bed, we’re leaving “faking it” in 2024. No more pretending that bad sex is actually good. No more trying really hard (and failing) to like this new boo as much as they might like you. Instead, in 2025, we get what we want and desire by being honest about it. Faking your pleasure is so 2024.
Hating your birth control.
There are so many different methods of birth control out there. Let 2024 be the last year you feel stuck with birth control that isn’t working for you. You can start by browsing our birth control method explorer or by talking to your provider (or both!). They can help you determine a method that will work better for you.
Listening to imposter syndrome.
That annoying little voice that makes you question whether or not you deserve the good things that come your way? Kick it to the curb. You are enough. In 2025, imposter syndrome doesn’t exist for you anymore.
Self-critical body shaming.
Your body is the only one you’ve got, and it’s brought you this far. Let this coming year be your time to appreciate the skin you’re in. Put on clothes that you love because YOU love them. If body positivity doesn’t work for you, then aiming for body neutrality—neither loving nor hating your body—could be the right approach for you.
Giving your haters rent-free space in your head.
Sometimes haters can be your motivators, and other times…they’re just f***ing annoying distractions. Haters don’t pay rent for the space they occupy in your thoughts. They don’t deserve to be there. In fact, if your hater is a frenemy, go ahead and switch them over to full enemy status so you can save your energy for real friends. Live your life, prosper, and let the haters stay mad in 2025 without you even thinking about them.
Flaking on friends.
Things come up occasionally and you can’t make it, we get it. But the online glee about cancelling on people isn’t for the besties or the girls’ girls. Somebody has to do the showing up! Make 2025 the year of follow-through, for both yourself and your friends. It feels so good to show up for people…maybe even better than snuggling up at home in your blankets.
Overwork and burnout.
No grind, no shine? More like: No rest, get stressed. It’s a beautiful thing when all your hard work pays off and you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. But the ugly side of that is when you don’t give yourself enough time to replenish your energy. Burnout is real, and it doesn’t have to play a role in your success story. It may be easier said than done, but try to start small. Go to bed 10 minutes earlier. Hop off social media an hour beforehand. Take short breaks midday to center yourself. Let 2025 be your year to shine without stress dimming your light.
