Rise and shine: The sleepy magic of mornings

First we urged you to turn summer upside-down by saying yes to a bunch of wonderful things. Now it’s time to shake up your wake up by making the most of mornings. Trust us: Even if you’re not an early bird, you’re gonna want to try some of these.

Set your alarm and…

  • Bring back coffee and donuts for the roommates, your S.O., or just for you.
  • Get your workout done and feel energized and awesome the whole day.
  • Sit. Surrounded by peaceful silence. And just be.
  • Bake blueberry banana bread with cinnamon crunch topping.
  • Inhale a ton of fresh oxygen while you take an outdoor a.m. yoga class.
  • Watch the sunrise.
  • Read in bed with a big cup of your favorite tea.
  • Start work early before anyone else is up and see if the quiet makes you more productive.
  • Have breakfast in bed. (BTW, we can help.)
  • Get familiar with nocturnal penile tumescence.
  • Shower together.
  • Stretchfor later.
  • Write. Paint. Sew. Play guitar. Do something creative and see if it makes the rest of the day better.
  • Spoon. While the bed’s still warm.
  • Take your mug of coffee out on the back deck, up on the roof, or in the backyard. Look around. Feel grateful.
  • Meet up with friends or colleagues before work or school. Make breakfast the new happy hour.
  • Make a to-do list for the day and feel good every time you check something off.
  • Take a pet for a walk and see who’s up early in your neighborhood.
  • Fall back asleep. If you have the time and it feels good, it’s okay to indulge in some more slumber.

What’s your favorite morning ritual? Tell us in the comments.
